a few pics at Japfest 2011
Last weekend we went to Japfest at Mondello Park, what a great day. Drifting, Time Attack, Drag Racing, club track time, and a whole load of parked up J-tin :) Firstly are a few awesome pics I found of my Trueno. Credit for these great shots goes to an unknown photographer friend of one of the members ae86irl.com! Thanks man :) I really must take the camera off "auto" some day..
I really meant to go taking more pics, but between the cold and the rain in the morning, and the huge amount of really nice cars to examine, I just grabbed a few of some tasty fellow graphites parked beside us.The standard of the all the AE86s on display was really really good, all body styles and types of tuning, so next time I promise to take some good coverage and not show favouritism towards fellow stealth hachii!
Also a long over due team group shot..
Big thanks to the "sticker guy" too, who provided some sweet Garage Hachi decals at very short notice, some nice ones for inside the windows are in production too, but for now one found a home living inside one of Kevs mesh!

A snap of his Corolla back as his clean daily car.
His Levin is back out now and he has just about as many plans for it , as the rest of us on here do,
the bodywork is a little rough and ready but who cares , if it's future is going to be spent out on track!! A quick list of his spec, from The Boy himself...

Bloggers might remember this pic below of Neil's engine, 80% done before he went hibernating,
It is now fitted and is soon to be finished off.....
Just last weekend I was over putting some finishing touches to it with him,
A Quick recheck to the head to make sure all valve clearances are in spec..
He has a couple of bits to order up and We'll have his little carb'd 4age singing again!
A new oil pump, water pump and a 3.05 shim and I reckon she's ready to be Torqued and Timed !!
I have to admit , including my 2 sets of itbs , Dave's epic intake and exhaust , and Sarah's blueprinted blue-top, Neil's 4ag does sound the best when the carbs are chartering !!
Anyway, from now on he'll keep you updated,
So welcome to our 4th member and 5th GH car, I think a new batch of stickers and mugs is in order.

win on the auctions!
Its been a quiet one this month, mostly a bit of money saving for parts for all 4 of the Garage Hachi fleet, but last week I was very lucky to be forwarded a link to my precious 2-door Redlines on the Yahoo Auctions. With just 20hrs left and amazingly no bids at 8000Y, (they were listed in exterior aero rather than rear lights) I placed my bid via JAA. Checked it the following morning and I had won! They do not come with the centre "garnish" but I already have one with the two small white lines. I think that is the only small difference so I will just spray the number plate surround a fresh satin black for the time being. Can't wait for them to arrive now and give them the Plast-RX treatment before fitting.
I have seen two versions of 2D Redlines on the auctions, some have just one stop/tail bulb per side, and others like these have two, so it looks like my light loom will just plug straight in and I still get the nice dual stop tail / parking light set up.
Also yesterday we attended the Prodrift 2010 Finals and there was some AE86 only parking arranged which was pretty cool. It was freezing cold and I only thought to take a picture towards the end, by this time a few other 86's and an 20v swapped E7 Corolla had already left, but it was still nice to park up with some other nice Hachii. If I find some more pics of the line up on the net I will post them up.

Back end Build
So I dropped the rear axle and got to work on it! Was gona go with a larger liteace axle but Ive decided to stick with the ae86 axle now. I striped it down totaly bare ,sanded it and got it ready for some satin black, rattle can style!

I built it back up using t3 fully rosejointed adjustable 5 link , trd roll bar and mcn/avo short stroke coilovers

now just waiting for funds to allow for new shafts and final drive setup, should have it fitted to the car this weekend , while I wait for other parts

** flashback..
Here is a nice shot I took way back in 2007, one of the last rounds of Prodrift ever held at the sorely missed Tipperary International Raceway, aka, the Rosebowl.
A somewhat deep in thought looking Kev walks towards old '83 Ae86, (only #859 off the production line!), which had been driven to and from every Prodrift and D-rift event of 2007, powered by the ever reliable Bumblebee engine which now lives in Sarah's 2 door Levin.

D Garry's Corolla
*msg rec 2am....... "getting there...."
Hopefully they do
I was hoping to take a few pic's and do a small feature on Donal's
Perfectly prepared 2dr Levin, Before today.
This is one seriously prepared drift hachi ! N/a 4ag 20v with Gas and tones of character, But today at practice for PD rd two he had a bad off, nothing that should stop him tho , as last time I left his lockup Phili and Donal where flat out getting the car back in shape for the qualifying in the morning....

Donal's corolla got a fair hit today(video later) but at no point this evening did anyone think he wouldn't be back out in the morning, serious effort by the lads and Roll on rd2 Pd.

Drifting '08

Drifting in '08 was great fun with the new 16v 4age, I got more experience sliding on different tracks and got through to a lot of the twin battles in PD and d-rift.
The engine ran flawlessly and the only mishap was in Ennis where I blew 2nd gear in the t50 box and that put me out of the finals.
Sadly '08 was the year we lost Rosegreen as a drift track.
As for '09 , I didn't get out on track, mainly due to buying my Levin and wanting to tune it up but also because I wanted to start from scratch with the Trueno and start a full car build (more on this later), which had turned into a track only car when I put the new engine in.
Drifting ' 07

I got allot of drifting done in '07 with my old road/track 3 door Trueno. Back then I used a standard tvis that I rebuilt, it was basically standard except for the bottom end lightened and balanced. it was very reliable, I drove to and competed in every round of the novice D-rift and Prodrift competitions!! The engine is still firing perfectly, its now living in Sarah's Levin.
The other AE86 also pictured is another garagehachi maintained car, Neil's Levin, which is in storage at the moment.
