a few pics at Japfest 2011
Last weekend we went to Japfest at Mondello Park, what a great day. Drifting, Time Attack, Drag Racing, club track time, and a whole load of parked up J-tin :) Firstly are a few awesome pics I found of my Trueno. Credit for these great shots goes to an unknown photographer friend of one of the members ae86irl.com! Thanks man :) I really must take the camera off "auto" some day..
I really meant to go taking more pics, but between the cold and the rain in the morning, and the huge amount of really nice cars to examine, I just grabbed a few of some tasty fellow graphites parked beside us.The standard of the all the AE86s on display was really really good, all body styles and types of tuning, so next time I promise to take some good coverage and not show favouritism towards fellow stealth hachii!
Also a long over due team group shot..
Big thanks to the "sticker guy" too, who provided some sweet Garage Hachi decals at very short notice, some nice ones for inside the windows are in production too, but for now one found a home living inside one of Kevs mesh!

Pic of the day: Rollin' ...
Last weekend saw a trip up to the big garage to change my dead TRD Blue passenger side insert in favour of some new MCN inserts which I picked up. Second time purchasing a set some of you may remember but some nasty Irish pothole killed the old TRD unit so it was time to try something new! Due to a massive hangover (which was entirely Kevs fault with the help of the Captain) we only got working late in the evening, so I didn't take any snaps of the swap, but the Trueno feels much much better with a fresh set of dampers, no more motorway bounce and I can make right turns with confidence again! A set of Sp-Tec tension rods have also been purchased which can only improve the great steering feel of an AE86 with a manual rack when we get around to fitting them.
There are some fitment issues with the gland nut/top of damper/bottom spacers that still have to be ironed out, and the struts have a small knocking noise that needs sorting, but its all part of development of an old hachi I guess..
I'm really looking forward to Japfest at Mondello next weekend ,so the car will be back in the bodyshop for its final compounding and a big wash and detail on Saturday. Funnily enough it was this time last year we fitted the coilovers before the same show , although she has transformed a lot since then. Hope to take plenty of pics from the weekend so stay tuned!

Neil has his Levin over 4 years now , we met about that time on a random night out Drifting in some local spots. He's been through thick and thin with it and now after nearly two years of hibernation ,his Levin is coming back to life!!!
A snap of his Corolla back as his clean daily car.
His Levin is back out now and he has just about as many plans for it , as the rest of us on here do,
the bodywork is a little rough and ready but who cares , if it's future is going to be spent out on track!! A quick list of his spec, from The Boy himself...

Bloggers might remember this pic below of Neil's engine, 80% done before he went hibernating,
It is now fitted and is soon to be finished off.....
Just last weekend I was over putting some finishing touches to it with him,
A Quick recheck to the head to make sure all valve clearances are in spec..
He has a couple of bits to order up and We'll have his little carb'd 4age singing again!
A new oil pump, water pump and a 3.05 shim and I reckon she's ready to be Torqued and Timed !!
I have to admit , including my 2 sets of itbs , Dave's epic intake and exhaust , and Sarah's blueprinted blue-top, Neil's 4ag does sound the best when the carbs are chartering !!
Anyway, from now on he'll keep you updated,
So welcome to our 4th member and 5th GH car, I think a new batch of stickers and mugs is in order.

random motivational snap!
Unfortunately I have nothing to report since my last blog, I'm still trying to get together some funds to start buying parts for the rebuild. The champion little 4ag is still going, but knowing it needs all this work is always on my mind! The body is starting to show its age too, along with my "winter damage", so a respray is in the planning now too. Meanwhile to keep my motivation going, Kev spotted this very nice shot of my Trueno over on drifted.com. It was a nice reward after spending the evening valeting the car. Delighted!

My Levin : take two....
Due to some misfortunes, lets say, that I've had with my Levin.
I've decided to take the time now to carry out a load of work Ive been putting off.
All going to plan , in the next 3-4 weeks I should have my Levin transformed into an all round much better Hachi Roku !!!!!
With the never-ending Trueno project on hold due to funds solely being directed at the Levin , The plans for it Include :
- Full respray in Pepper White (undergoing at the moment)
- Full manual steering conversion , rack ,column etc
- Full heater system conversion from a/c box setup to manual with reconditioned matrix
- Rx7 four pot brake conversion
- SSR mesh rebuild
The above plus nct and tax should see me Really enjoying my car this summer , I Hope I can get this done very soon.I'll start with some pic's from work today where I stripped down the old SSR's

The four Rim's have been sent to be professionally polished, and I'm being supplied with fresh polished bolts, 80 in all, to build theses back up together after the centers are blasted and painted.
Pic's of the shell which I striped down last Saturday up tomorrow.
