another Trueno arrives at the bodyshop..

We had a productive weekend at GH, a lot of time was spent at the special autobody division, where 23+ year old Toyotas can drive out the door as if they were rolling out of the factory on day 1.. (only on much better wheels of course lol). Kevs now immaculate Levin is nearly nearly there, he will be blogging lots of stunning pics and details very soon, we are all still a bit speechless at how good it turned out. At the end of the day it was decided that it was time for the Trueno to share the same fate as 3 of the other Garage Hachi fleet so far, a full respray and bodywork restoration. It is my first time getting a car painted and to say excited would be an understatement. It will be great to get rid of these early signs of rust as well as my few little damages here and there. There are a couple of nice suprises in store for this car, and I am really looking forward to blogging the progress. Summer Refresh campaign is a go!!

Random Snap, getting there...

After work today I put the front back together. We buffed up the bumper lenses and they now fit in well with the rest of the new lamp! I just love the combination of late and early parts on Levin's...
the bonnet still needs some adjusting.....

Instead of re-using the old philps head self tappers to hold on the early splitter I picked up
a set of  black Anodized bike faring bolts/washers ,I reckon there a nice touch to the bumper,
anywayz..... loads MoAr got done , I'll get some pic's up Saturday!

Strip-down...

Well as I said in my last post I wanna get this mini restoration done asap,
so here's a few pic's of the Levin striped and ready for some body work before it all gets sprayed.

Off with both bumpers,
front and rear lamps,
sideskirts,
all window trims ,
mirrors
door handles and locks,
and the old rusty boot lid!

Before I decided to go the whole way with the Levin , I had picked up a very fresh boot lid from a mate , as I  knew I had to get this done along with a small amount of rust I found under the boot lid seal.
Water was leaking in under the seal and fogging up the rear windows, so I wanted to catch it early before anymore rust appeared around the back end.

Thats it striped and ready for repair, other than the rust under the boot lid it needs some small repairs to the driver and passenger doors and the front passenger wing.

Some prepped bodywork pictures soon, and
I'm expecting the SSR centers back from being blasted and powder-coated next week.
Hopefully I'll get some of the heater or steering work done over the weekend.
